Lesson Types and Billing

Prices
In-studio and online: $30/30min, $50/hour
In-home: $40/30min, $70/hour
Your lesson price includes:
-
Regular, high-quality instruction, tailored to your goals, needs, and learning style.
-
Hand-transcribed pieces: exploration of the your genre of choice should go alongside the usual technique work. You're here to have fun playing an instrument, so we make it fun! If I can't find your song/piece of choice at your playing level, I'll arrange it for you myself, at no extra cost.
-
Two yearly studio recitals, where all students who wish to participate come together to show friends and family what we've been working on! I'll take care of venue fees, video equipment/editing, etc.
-
Scheduling flexibility: I offer options of weekly, biweekly, and monthly lessons to accommodate every payment need, along with an easy and flexible reschedule/cancellation policy.

Making payments:
-
Billing policy: We use Square Invoices to bill monthly, on the first of each month. Invoices will come through your email (please check your junk mail if you don't see it), and you will need to authorize payment, as an extra layer of protection for you! Your monthly fee is 4x the fee for each lesson, or 2x if you are doing lessons every other week. For example, if you do weekly 30-minute lessons, your bill each month will be $120. This flat rate accounts for everything listed above, plus: cancellations, vacations, months with an extra lesson, professional development and training. If your bill is not paid by the 5th day of the month, we'll put a pause on your lessons until you can get caught up. Please let me know if you need to scale down the amount of lessons you do each month, I will change it with no questions asked. Hard times shouldn't stop the music.
-
For new students: The week after your free trial lesson, we'll bill for the remainder of the current month if applicable, and then get you into the normal billing schedule in the following month.
-
Vacations and cancellations: Your monthly rate stays the same regardless of how many lessons you can make it to on any given month, and this includes months when you happen to have 5 lessons (it'll just be a freebie, and balance out with everything else). If you know you will be gone for more than two weeks, you have two options: continue to pay your monthly fee to keep your scheduled time for when you get back, or risk losing your spot. If I cancel for any reason, I will do my absolute best to schedule a makeup time or a video lesson with you. I live in Pueblo (an hour's commute away from my office at Graner), and the roads can get brutal during the snowy months, but I don't want that to affect your musical goals if I can help it!
I highly value the relationships I build with my students--and their success--far beyond just payment. But this is still a business, and I'm only one person with her own bills to pay. Let's keep it simple and keep communication open, so we can focus on the fun stuff!

Recitals:
-
Recitals are held twice a year at the recital hall at Graner Music, right next door to the studios. We try to have them on Friday or Saturday evenings, once in May/June and once in September/October.
-
All students are encouraged to participate, but will not be forced. Students who are interested in performing will know ahead of time, and in the lessons leading up to recitals we will choose a piece to prepare, work on stage presence and concert etiquette, and schedule rehearsals for any group ensembles.
-
Concert dress can include anything from formal dress to a nice shirt and jeans. I see it as an opportunity to dress up where there are few otherwise! Since it is a solo performance, Concert Black is not required.
-
Programs will be provided at each recital, great for scrapbooks and resumes! Intermediate/advanced students are encouraged to provide program notes for their pieces, just like the professionals.
-
There will be a reception with snacks afterward in the adjoining dining space. It's customary to bring something to share, but not required.
